Between the beginning and end of July, the value of the pound seemed to fluctuate almost daily. Anyone going on holiday and wanting to make the best of the tourist exchange rate may have experienced great difficulty deciding when to change sterling in order to get the best deal.

At present, many workers fail to take up valuable pension benefits because they do not make an application to join their employer's scheme. From 1 October 2012 (subject to an employer's own introduction date), all eligible workers will be automatically enrolled into their employer's qualifying pension scheme without any active decision on their part

With the global economy in such a fragile state, one would think that politicians would be working together to find solutions. In the US, it seems that the politicians have been more concerned about getting one over on each other than ensuring the world's largest economy avoids defaulting on its debt obligations.

Recently one of our long standing members of staff, Geroge Martin, had to retire due to illness. Everyone at MDM would like to take this opportunity to say a reluctant farewell to this solid trooper with many years of fond memories and service to the financial services industry.
